DUST IN THE SUNLIGHT [ALT-POP/SYNTH-POP]

Dust In The Sunlight - Former Lives

Dust In The Sunlight unveil their intoxicating new single "Former Lives"

London based two-piece Dust In The Sunlight share a drop of lush escapism in the form of "Former Lives". Glacial vocals transcend into orchestral strings and weightless synths, delivering a flawless antidote for any lingering winter blues.

Written as a response to society's insatiable pressures and expectations, Former Lives is here to help take the weight off. Sharing more, the band explain: “Former Lives is about the pressure and immediacy of modern life making you feel like you have to be a million things at once... but actually what you really need to do is let go of that ideology and find your own pace and sense of self. It’s very easy to forget where you’ve come from and everything you’ve been through to get to where you are now... I think the lyrics are about helping each other find that again.“

Taken from their sophomore EP, due for release later this year, Former Lives is the second single to be revealed from the new record.

After a chance meeting at a recording session in 2017 as solo artists, Annie Rew Shaw and Billy Wright’s vocals merged so effortlessly that everyone in the room agreed this had to be the beginning of something special. Within 12 months of their official formation, Dust in The Sunlight signed to indie label Project Melody.

After honing their sound and merging their skills, the pair released their debut EP during the first UK lockdown in 2020. The self entitled body of work won many hearts with its gorgeous showcase of harmonious vocals and tender songwriting. Scooping support from the likes of BBC Introducing, Radio X, Clash and Record of The Day who after describing the sound as "A fine blend of Royksopp, The XX and London Grammar"*; it’s clear to see this band is onto a good thing.
